This engineered metal building sits on a 25-acre site and required extensive underground work. The owner’s schedule demanded working through adverse conditions requiring over 75,000 yards of stone to allow construction and movement of heavy equipment.

Ground Effects is a specialty automotive assembly facility associated with General Motors that installs all special finish products on new GM pickup trucks.  In 2019, they came to E&L with a request to build a new plant close to their source.  Flint Michigan is the home of GM pickup truck assembly.  GFX purchased property next to the Flint GM facility and our team designed a building to fit their needs.  The new construction project sits on a 25-acre site and is slightly over 104,000 square feet under roof.  Measuring 32’ high with ESFR fire protection and a built-in car wash, the building hosts many high-tech mechanical features to accommodate the work they do.  Outside the facility is parking for over 900 new pickup trucks, as they emerge from the facility completed and prepped for shipping.
